Betty moved to Oahu in 1951 where she remained until 2009 when she relocated to Washington State to be closer to her surviving children. She had a life-long love of books and music which her career as librarian and avocation of singing closely reflected. An active volunteer, she served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Human Services and as St. Andrews Cathedral Music Librarian, for which she received the First Lady Outstanding Volunteer Award in 1988. Betty leaves us a lasting impression of kindness, grace and wisdom. She is deeply loved and will be missed by many. Betty is survived by her daughter Barbara in Olympia, WA, son John in El Paso, TX and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Cathedral on Saturday, August 14: Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m.; service at 10:30 a.m. and inurnment directly following the service.
