ALBERT HIROMARO MATANO Born 1927, the eldest son of 8 siblings of the late Reverend Konin and Mrs. Tamako Matano of Waianae, Oahu, passed away on July 15, 2010 in Pleasantville, New York where he resided since 1972. Although he attended McKinley High School, he graduated from Federal High School in Crystal City, Texas, where the family was interned in 1944 during WWII. Albert received a B.A. from Columbia College, an M.A. from Harvard and did graduate work at the University of Tokyo. He was preceded by his wife, Ritsu Hano Matano, who died on April 27, 2010. He is survived by his sons Albert K. Matano of Virginia, Alan M. Matano of New York, 3 grandchildren, and his sisters Florence H. Matano of Los Angeles, Alice N. Fujieda of Hawaii, and Caroline A. Yang of Taiwan, and more than 20 nieces and nephews. |
