Benjamin Himalaya, 89, of Hilo, a Laupahoehoe Sugar Co. warehouseman, retired Holmes & Narver material controller on Johnston Island and Army veteran who served in the 1st Filipino Infantry Regiment during World War II, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Papaaloa, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Antonina; sons Jeffrey, Jonathan and Joel; daughters Jennifer Osorio, Janice Ferguson and Judith Gealon; hanai daughter Josephine Villarmia; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5 p.m. Thursday at Dodo Mortuary Hilo. Services: 6 p.m. Additional visitation: 9 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. No flowers.
