DR. ARTHUR S. KUBO
DR. ARTHUR S. KUBO Dr. Arthur S. Kubo (Age 73) son of Earl T. and Tamiye I. Kubo passed away on Thursday, August 5,2010 at his residence in Fairfax, Virginia. He is survived by his wife Catherine Pauls Kubo; sister Patricia (Byron) Park of Aiea, Hawaii; children Traci (George) Kubo-Carrera of Leesburg, Virginia, Kim Kubo (Scott Bland) and Trent (Jim) Daniel of Oviedo, Florida, and Torao Kubo (Jim French) of Arlington, Virginia; eight grand children and one great grandchild. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and a graduate of University High Laboratory School, Dr. Kubo was appointed to and graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point, New York. His US Army Engineer service record includes an advisory and two combat tours in Viet Nam, command of a Nuclear Power Plant in Fort Greely Alaska, Associate Professor for Nuclear Engineering at the US Military Academy, and Division Chief at the Defense Nuclear Agency. Dr. Kubo earned his PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and served on the Secretary of Energy's Blue Ribbon Panel to review the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant program, and a congressionally-mandated committee to assess Bikini Atoll Rehabilitation. After retiring from the Army, Dr. Kubo went on to an executive career at BDM International, and then TRW. Funeral Service and burial at Arlington National Cemetery, Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 9:00AM. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Capitol Hospice, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, Virginia.
