Robert "Bob" Austin Griffen, 84, of Kailua, a public health educator; entomologist; Peace Corps volunteer and regional coordinator and butterfly collector extraordinaire, died at home in Maunawili. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa and grew up in Alaska, California and became a worldwide traveler. He is survived by wife Betti, daughter Mali Griffen, step children Douglas Dinwiddie, Debra Schroeder and son-in-law Will Schroeder, granddaughters Samatha and Natalie; and former wife Florence Sumire Griffen. Celebration of Life will take place at 9:30 am at Kailua Beach Park on Oct. 16th. A light Buffet Breakfast will be served. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice Hawaii.
