MARY FREITAS BENTO
December 30, 1923- August 15, 2010
Born on Dec. 30th 1923 in the Philippine Islands the seventh child of Antonio and Estrella DeFreitas. After the loss of his wife and three of his eight children her father returned to the Hawaiian Islands to raise his children. Mary was a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy and a hairdresser for forty years in Hawaii. She married Theodore A. Bento on June 27th 1942 and had two sons Theodore Jr. and Lionel. We lost our loving mother on August 15th 2010 from a long battle with cancer in Roseville Ca. where she had resided for the last twenty years; she passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was an angel sent to make our lives filled with happiness and laughter. Her loving husband Theodore A. Bento preceded Mary in death on June 7th 2002. Mary leaves behind many grieving relatives, her two sons Theodore Jr. (Barbara) of Roseville Ca. and Lionel (Jasara) of El Dorado Ca., her sister Helen Vierra (Joseph) of Waimanalo, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her funeral was filled with many friends from the Saint Rose Catholic Church Alter Society and Rosary group, which she was a large part of, who along with her family paid tribute to an angel of God returned to Heaven. She was buried along side her husband at the Santa Barbara Ca. cemetery. She will remain in our hearts and minds as a memory of a visiting angel.
