JAMES “JIM” BRICE SHAW
JAMES "JIM" BRICE SHAW James "Jim" Brice Shaw passed away peacefully surrounded in love at home on October 7, 2010. Jim was born on March 3, 1926 the only son of W. Brice and Maurine Shaw in Aberdeen, WA. He served with the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Upon returning from the service he went on to graduate from the University of Oregon. He moved to Medford, OR with his wife Jane (Carson) whe re they raised a family and he was the co-owner of a wholesale lumber company. Having been stationed in Honolulu during World War II, Jim always had a fondness for Hawaii and moved to Honolulu in 1977 where he worked for Merrill Lynch until retiring in 1994. Jim enjoyed traveling around the world, reading, and was an avid golfer and musician. He played the trumpet as a child and continued to play and share his joy of music throughout his life. He was active in the community, participating in the Shriners for more than 30 years, including serving on the Board of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Honolulu, and volunteering as a Docent at Queen lolani Palace. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Betty Lou (Dunn, Fenger), daughter Sally Sacchetto of Novato, CA, son John Shaw of Arlington, VA; stepdaughter Rebecca Doub of Baltimore, MD and grandchildren Marco, George, Victoria, Angelica, and Fred. He is preceded in death by his sister Margaret Teach and first wife Jane Shaw. A kind, caring, and devoted husband, father and grandfather he was dearly cherished and will be greatly missed. A family service will be held, in accordance with Jim's wishes, and his ashes will be scattered at sea. In lieu of flowers please send contributions to the American Cancer Society.
