Fa'atautau Salanoa Jr., also known as "Chief" and "Junior," 71, of Aiea, a former personal bodyguard with the attorney general's office for Govs. John Burns and George Ariyoshi, and retired Radford High School head of security, died at home. He was born in Fagatogo, American Samoa. He is survived by wife Susana; sons Allen, William, Vernon, Thor and Fred Salanoa, and Richard, James and Brian Hines; daughters Susan Manuma and Amanda Salanoa; brothers Fa'aolataga and Sini Salanoa, Misiualapa Tialavea-Salanoa and Liu Atafua Ape-Salanoa; sisters Aolelei Ioelu, Polelei Eliasaro and Tali Alisa; 29 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Aiea Ward, Halawa chapel. Services: 11 a.m. Burial: 1:30 p.m. at Laie Cemetery.
