FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Shizue Elizabeth Johnson
SHIZUE ELIZABETH JOHNSON Passed away quietly December 30, 2010, freed from the shackles of such questions as: Why? How Come? What is happening to me? Questions, symptomatic of Alzheimer's disease, for which no one had answers and which would progressively plague her the last eight years of her life. Shizue was born and raised in the Hawaiian Islands. She temporarily relocated to Florida to be with her daughter's family in 2004 upon the death of her husband. She never really adapted to her new life in Florida and knew she would eventually return to Hawaii as a final resting place. A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor her wishes to have her ashes and that of her deceased husband scattered in Kaneohe Bay, HI. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Carl W., and a son Lance K. Johnson. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Welch (Clifton); two grandchildren, Miko Burgstiner (Scott) and Rad Welch (Melody); four great grand-children, Peyton, Michael Scott, Christian, and Sarah Morgan (Suki); a sister, Mitsuye Inouye; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thanks to her caregivers at Emeritus at Orange Park and especially to those in the Memory Care Unit who made her last few months memorable, and the nursing staff who ensured her comfort. They are truly caring people! Also thanks to Hospice of Northeast Florida. In lieu of flowers or condolence cards, the family requests contributions be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073 (904) 264-1233.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
