FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

RUTH FOSTER
RUTH FOSTER January 18, 2011 She was the closest thing to an angel to walk the earth. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 2, 1922 to Elizabeth and Peter Murphy she passed away at the Ponds at Punaluu. Mom possessed a true servant's heart that blessed her with the ability to gain joy through making others happy. Not only was she loving and comforting, but she had the rare combination of intelligence, beauty, kindness, and a wonderful sense of humor. In 1940 she went on a double date and ended up talking to her friend's date all night. When she came home she told her parent's I just met the man I am going to marry (so maybe there are 2 people who might dispute the angel reference). And for 63 years she protected him until Thomas predeceased her in 2009. Their marriage produced 5 children: Susan (deceased), Kristine, Thomas (Karen), Michael (Shelley), and Denise. She was the proud grandmother of 3 grandkids: Kimi, Rebecca, and Stephen. A brother, Robert (Nancy) of Massachusetts also survives her. Mom was everything you would want in a mom, and even though her mind slowly slipped away toward the end her kind spirit never abandoned her. It is said that all that remains in life is the dash between birth and death. That dash represents what others think of you, that's all thats left of your time. We believe that mom's dash is a gift to anyone who will listen - that no day is promised to anyone, so be selfless to a fault and cherish the simple blessings that always surround you, and maybe one day your dash will bring fond, loving memories when others think of you too. The Foster family would like to thank Barbara Fields for her never-ending selflessness, the Pond's at Punaluu, who under the direction of Warren DeBary, made her final days as happy as possible, and finally Dee Kupahu, whose love for both our parents brightened their lives during difficult times. Private service.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
