Miriam Matsue Higashi, 86, of Honolulu, a retired Moanalua Elementary School kindergarten teacher, died in Hale Malamalama Nursing Facilities. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by sons Steven and Alan, daughter Kathleen Poentis, sisters Mildred Kanemura and Muriel Mizokami, and six grandchildren. Visitation: 5 p.m. Wednesday at Diamond Head Mortuary. Services: 6 p.m. Committal services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.
