LT. COL (RET) BEN I. SUGAWA
Age 87, of Mililani, Hawaii, passed away February 6, 2011 in Mililani. Born December 26, 1923 in Lawai, Kauai. Graduated from Colorado State University. He was an Army veteran who proudly served with the 442nd in WWII and then in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his military career, he taught at Nanakuli High School retiring after 15 years. He was an avid golfer who organized various golf clubs.
He is survived by wife, Gladys Sugawa; sons, Edmund (Myrna) Sugawa, Ivan Sugawa; daughters, Thesa (Frank) Hudek, Constance (Carl) Phillips; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Sugawa; sister, Dolly Brierley.
Visitation 9:00 a.m. Friday (February 25) at Mililani Downtown Mortuary; Memorial Service 10:30 a.m. Committal Service 2:00 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Casual Attire. No flowers, please.
