LARRY JOSEPH, SR.
Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary Mauka Chapel LARRY JOSEPH, SR. Age 85, of Waianae, Hawaii, passed away February 7, 2011 in Waianae. Born January 23, 1926 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Larry was a paniolo from an early age. He started working for his father, Antone Joseph, who owned the Joseph Dairy in Kalihi by the age of twelve. He later worked for Grace Brothers Company as a paniolo and truck driver for many years. Larry also worked for the Parker Ranch feed lot in Campbell Industrial Park as a paniolo. He participated in many rodeos in Hawaii and won the 1966 All Around Cowboy trophy at Honokaa, Big Island. From 1969-1971 he managed the Makaha Inn riding stables. He also worked as a laborer & leading man at the Lualualei Ammunition Depot until 1975 when he retired. One of Larry's favorite things was talking story with family & friends about the old days, but his lifelong love was being a paniolo. He is survived by wife, LaVerna Kahokuokalani Joseph; sons, Larry "Larry Boy" Joseph, Jr., Lesly "Ponto" Joseph; daughters, Veronica "Tina" (Clifford) Chow, Brenda "Ani" Key, Ramona "Tot" Gouveia, Roxanne "Rocco" Joseph, Lea "Tita" (Robert) Vierra; step-daughters, Laurie Digges, Sharon Texeira; step-son, Antony (Michelle) Good; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nieces & nephews. Visitation 5:30 p.m. Saturday (March 5) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel; Prayer Service 6:30 p.m. Casual Attire. No flowers, please.
