Eugene Stafford "Gene" Hirst, 89, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., formerly of Hawaii Kai, a retired Hertz England, Caribbean, Hawaii & Tropical Rent-a-Car in Hawaii car rental manager and a Navy veteran who served in World War II, died in Mission Viejo, Calif. He was born in Salineville, Ohio. He is survived by son Michael; daughters Patti Mickelsen and Susie Hirst-Botke; sisters Evelyn Smith, Helen Bondurant and Janice Allmon; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
