Penitito Gapelu
March 27, 2011 Penitito Gapelu, also known as "Ben" and "Kiko," 51, of Waipahu, a retired Army sergeant first class and an employee at U.S. Army Garrison, Hawaii, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security at Schofield Barracks, died in Ewa Beach. He was born in Onenoa, American Samoa. He is survived by wife Tavai; son Ryan T.; daughters Ashley-Brittney and Alexandria U.; father Aumua Ugaitafa; brothers Otele and Jerome Gapelu, Iete, Iata, Iakopo and Esau Ugaitafa, and Ace Muamua; and sister Tulua M. Lauago. Visitation: 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Waianae Samoan Congregational Church, 86-130 Puhawai Road. Services: 10:30 a.m. Committal services: 1 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Aloha attire. Flowers welcome.
