Jr., as he was known to many, was a 24/7 Believer and exemplified the following 1 Corinthians verse.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grand-father and brother. He was a decorated WWII Veteran. He was employed with the City and County of Honolulu until he retired in 1985 with over 40 years of service.
Ambrose was preceded in death by, his wife of 32 years, Betty Aiau Costa and son Russell Negrillo. He is survived by nine children: Ambrose M Costa III (Skip), Debra Costa Collender (Bonnie), Alicia M Costa (Penny), Cristina Livesay, Emma Lumives, Janet Moniz, Daniel Negrillo, John Negrillo and Jaymes Negrillo. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brother, Gordon M Costa (Helen Pagan Costa) and sisters, Kathleen Gomes (Joyce) and Charlotte Perry (June).
A memorial service to honor Ambrose will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Borthwick Mortuary- Mauka Chapel, located at 1330 Maunakea Street. Friends are welcome to visit from 9:00 am., with the service to begin at 10:00 am. Ambrose will be laid to rest at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.
