Anthony "Akoni" Fox AkanaANTHONY "AKONI" FOX AKANA
Anthony "Akoni" Fox Akana died at age 54 on March 25, 2011 at his home in Ainakoa surrounded by family and friends. Akoni was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was a graduate of Kamehameha Schools. He moved to Maui which was his first love, where he lived for 35 years and was the Executive Director of Friends of Moku'ula Lahaina, Maui. He is also a Kumu Hula and composed many songs and chants.
He is the last of the three sons including Kainoa and Francis that preceded him and is survived by his parents, Kainoa (Skippy) and Frances Akana, sister-in-law; Andrea Akana, Nieces & Nephews, Aunties & Uncles; and dear friend Shirley Kahai from Maui.
A service was held in Maui on April 23rd at Moku'ula Grounds. Services in Honolulu will be held at Oahu Cemetary in Nuuanu on April 30th, 2011. Visitation 9:00am, Service at 10:30am with burial to follow. Lunch will be served there on the Lanai. Casual attire.
