Darlene Mahelona Baines, 74, of Kahului, a retired teacher for the San Mateo Union High School District, died at home. She was born in Kahului. She is survived by husband Arnold J.; sons James Kent, Harold "Kent" McGroarty and Keoni and Aaron Baines; daughters Mary S. Mahelona, Shirley Chidester and Sharon May; brothers Nathaneal, Charles, Arnold and Herbert Mahelona; sisters Pearl Dillon, Shirley Miyahana and Jeanie Smith; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
