72Michael Byron Balai, also known as "Mike" and "Mikey," 48, of Hilo, a Tropical Hawaiian Products employee, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Moretta "Kanani"; son Michael Jr.; daughters Tasha, Michaelyn and Carlirose Balai, Nicole Santa Isabel and Naia Ahuna-Balai; mother Helen Kamalii; brothers Ernest "Ernie" Jr., Manuel and Aaron; sisters Erlinda "Linda" Martinez and Lisa Balai; hanai brothers Elvin Yogi and Jesse Balai; and five grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. Sunday at Zion's House of Praise Holiness Church, 170 Makaala St., Hilo. Services: 10 a.m. Casual attire.
