Lawrence Makahinu "Duna" Cockett Jr., 83, of Wailuku, a retired Army private first class, died in Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Puunene, Maui. He is survived by sons Lawrence III, Patrick, Byron, Benjamin and Major; daughters Jackie Sacapanio and Beverly Cockett; brothers Edmund, Gordon and Benjamin; 11 grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and a greatgreatgrandchild. Family visitation: 8 a.m. Friday at Ballard Family Mortuary, Kahului. Public visitation: 9 a.m. Services: 11 a.m. Burial: 1 p.m. at Maui Veterans Cemetery, Makawao.
