TORAYO (MINATODANI) NOMURA
Torayo Nomura of Honolulu, 95, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2011. Born on Jan. 5, 1916 in Honolulu, she worked for Malihini Sportswear as a seamstress and was an active member of Nichigobu Ministry of Nu'uanu Congregational Church. She was preceeded in death by her daughter, Francine
(Alan) Doi, and grandson, Jeremy Doi, her parents and all of her 9 siblings.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 1/2 years, Walter Tetsuo Nomura; son, Andrew (Nora) Nomura; daughters, Faith (John) Burgess of California and Anita Steigerwald; son-in-law, Alan Doi; 9 grandchildren: Christina (Matt) McMichael, Johanna (Joe) Hart, David Burgess, Micah Steigerwald, Peter Steigerwald, Ryan Nomura, Evan Nomura, Jessica Doi & Amanda Doi; and 4 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sat., July 2, 2011 at Nu'uanu Congregational Church, U.C.C. Visitation at 3:00 pm. Service at 4:00 pm. Casual attire; no flowers, please.
