FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Delores " Dee" Wernes
DELORES " DEE" WERNES 90, died peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by family Nov 9, 2010. She was born Aug 9, 1920 to Josephine and Frank Flammang in Tulare, Ca. She was raised in Visalia, Ca. working the farm with her brothers Jack and Bob Flammang, both of whom have preceded her in death. After graduating from Visalia Union H.S. in 1938 she worked a short time as a secretary before becoming an Air Force wife. During the 43 yrs of military life she traveled all over the world and lived in places most of us dream about. She spent a lot of time volunteering on and off base, but always found time to be involved with all of her daughters activities. Retirement years for her and her husband Lt. Col. Lawrence Wernes were spent to the fullest her in Hi. Very active with the Elks you would find them dancing there on weekends and on various bowling leagues with the Elks and many friends they made through the Lodge. When they weren't traveling, mom would swim 1-2 miles daily for years off Ft. DeRussy beach till the death of her husband in 1987. She was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Col Lawrence Wernes and grandson Lance Pennington. She is survived by daughter Pamela Pennington, Grandsons Dean and Todd Pennington and Granddaughter Jamie Honda. Also 5 great grandchildren, Erick, Scott, Rebecca, Mariah, & Tyler. Scattering of ashes will be June 25th at 10 am at the Elks Lodge, Honolulu, HI
