G. William "Bill" Steckel, 89, of Hilo, a retired foreign service officer and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Kansas City, Mo. He is survived by wife Anita P., sons Geoffrey and Roger, daughter Sara Raynor and two grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, 595 Kapiolani St., Hilo. Services: 10 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
