ETHEL SHIZUKO KATEKARU

Ethel S. Katekaru, 93, of Honolulu passed away peacefully at the Palolo Chinese Home shortly after a final visitation with her family.
She was born on December 4, 1917, on the Island of Hawaii, moved to Honolulu in her teens, and graduated from McKinley High School. In 1942, she married Ted Katekaru (deceased); she owned and operated Ethel's Dress Shop in Kapalama during the 1950's and later worked for and retired from Malia, as a seamstress.
Ethel is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin and Brenda, Eric and Ann, and Wesley and Lena. She is also survived by a brother, Seigi Ikehara; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Travis, Aaron, Blake, Bryce, Matthew, and Dylan; and two nieces and four nephews.
