STEPHANIE LEE UYEDA

Stephanie Lee Uyeda, Age 56, of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away on July 30th, 2011 in California while attending a woman's seminar. Born October 4th, 1954 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Stephanie grew up in Monterey Park, California. She graduated from Romona Convent High School in Alhambra, California, then on to the University of California at Santa Barbara where she graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. Stephanie also attended the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan teaching English to Japanese students. In 1978 she joined American Airlines Reservations in Los Angeles, then transferred to Honolulu in 1980 returning to her birthplace and worked her way through the ranks at American to lead the Regional Sales & Marketing efforts in the islands, a position she held until the events of September 11, 2001 resulted in the closing of the office.
Stephanie then operated her own business running various Associations in Honolulu including the Honolulu chapter of SMEI (Sales & Marketing Executive International), SKAL Hawaii, a travel industry association as Executive Director of both organizations. She was also the former Executive Director of HAB, (Hawaii Association of Broadcasters).
She is survived by her parents, Herbert & Dale Uyeda of Monterey Park, California.
A memorial service & Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1701 Wilder Avenue - aloha attire - The family requests no flowers.
