Stephanie SmartSTEFANIE SMART
Stefanie Lee Havens Smart, 45, passed away on August 17, 2011.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Diamond Head Theater on Sunday August 21, 2011 at 4pm.
Stefanie was born on August 24, 1965 in Hilo, Hawaii to Antony Parker Smart and Diana Damon Smart. She grew up in Honolulu where she attended Hanahau'oli and Punahou Schools and went on to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena. Stefanie was a prominent figure in the Hawaii theater scene and she garnered three Po'okela Awards for her performances as "Carrie" in Carousel (DHT), "Anna" in King & I (DHT) and "Mrs. Lovett" in Sweeny Todd (ACT).
Stefanie had an incredible zest for living. She loved to cook and savor the flavor of life and was at her happiest on the stage. She was at home in the ocean and with her friends and had a laugh that carried for miles. She was a gifted singer and performer, loving and passionate wife and beloved friend. As a child and into her mid-teens, Stefanie spent summers and weekends on Parker Ranch, then owned by her grandfather Richard Smart, living in his art museum home, Puuopelu. After high school, "granddaddy" recommended she attend the school in Pasadena because, as she put it, "I want to be a singing Meryl Streep."
Stefanie is survived by her husband, James B. Triplett; her brother Parker Damon Smart, her niece and nephew, Maya and Keaton Smart, her first cousin, Willow Smart, and her mother and step-father, Diana Damon Henderson and Charlie Henderson.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
