75Mark Richard Rife, 38, of Hilo, a former teacher with Christian Liberty Academy, a youth pastor at Hilo Missionary Church, founder and pastor of Elevate, and an English instructor with UniTEFL, died. He was born in Harrisburg, Pa. He is survived by parents Richard and Patricia, brothers Greg and Doug, and grandparents John and Martha Tighe. An informal memorial gathering followed by a scattering of his (and his wife Sarah’s) ashes at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Happiness Garden (behind the Suisan Fish Market at the mouth of Wailoa River). Casual attire. Loose flowers and/or thread lei are welcome. The gathering will be standing room only and umbrellas are recommended.
