81Charles K. Konanui Sr., 83, of Hilo, a retired heavy equipment operator, died in the Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in Opihikao, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Juanita; sons Charles K. Jr. and Pumehana H.; daughters Pi‘ilani C. Luis, Junedale U. Tavares, Emily K. Hauanio, DonnaLynn Y. Balai and Miriam Anna P., Kelly C. and Loriann Y. Konanui; brothers Joseph Naeole and Bernard Konanui; 35 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. Private services held.
