Ernest Hajime Sakoda, 62, of Waipahu, a retired Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard nuclear electrician and Shop 51 instrument mechanic supervisor, and an Army retiree and Purple Heart recipient, died in Ewa Beach. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Geraldine "Gerry"; daughter Marla Tengan; hanai daughter Sasha Souza-Stant; brother Ronald; sisters Beatrice Iwata, Gladys Harada and Betsy Uyematsu; and three grandchildren. Visitation: 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio, mauka chapel. Services: 10 a.m. Committal services: 1 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Casual attire.
