Clarence Lopes, 87, of Redmond, WA. formerly of Honolulu, passed away in Bellevue, Wa. He was born and raised in Nuuanu and was the son of the late John and Sylvia Lopes. A veteran of the U.S. Army he served in World War II in Guadalcanal.
Clarence was an entrepreneur of his time, the former owner of several businesses in his lifetime, Elbow Room, Sierra Madre, Cadillac Cab and Aloha Ambulance. He is survived by his wife Norma "Hale" Lopes of Redmond, WA., son Dennis Lopes of Las Vegas, NV, daughters Marvalee Bustillos of San Francisco, CA., Jennifer Perreira of Maui, and Maria Lopes of Olympia, WA.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at St. Stephens Catholic Church, Nuuanu on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, visitation from 10:00 am, Mass at 11:00 am. Internment to follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl at 1:00 pm. The family requests no flowers.
