FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

RUTH ELIZABETH (NELSON) LEUPP
RUTH ELIZABETH (NELSON) LEUPP Long-time Honolulu resident Ruth Elizabeth (Nelson) Leupp passed away November 28 in Colorado Springs. Born in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1930, she met Gene M. Leupp of Stanton, North Dakota and married in 1953. After tours in the Air Force in Germany and the continental U.S. he was assigned to a post in Hawai'i in 1970, where he retired. After his retirement Mom traveled the world with Gene, making repeated trips to China where they were known as "Dad" and "Mum" to several families. Active in the Morning Music Club, they worked many years to support local musicians. Mom always loved words, and instilled in her sons a passion for reading and writing. She was a formidable Scrabble player to the end. Mom was a loving, supportive wife through her husband's terminal illness, which claimed him in 2010. Soon falling ill herself, she spent her last days surrounded by family in Colorado Springs. She is survived by her 3 sons David, Gary and Jon; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. We cherish our memories of a caring mom who was always there for us, fiercely loyal and infinitely giving.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
