FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ERWIN KAHALEOHU HUIHUI
ERWIN KAHALEOHU HUIHUI A resident of Zachary, Louisiana, for the past 11 years, passed away on December 10, 2011, at the age of 77 after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on August 21, 1934, and raised on the island of 'Oahu, Hawai'i, which he so dearly loved. A 1953 graduate of Farrington High School, he was an employee of the Dept. of Education before moving on to his own his business and continuing to work with teachers and librarians of private and public schools across the State of Hawai'i. He is preceded in death by his parents John Paul Huihui and Charlotte Nina Malaiakini, and his siblings Paul Keonaona, Charlotte Leimomi (Akana), Thelma Leina'ala (Tachera). Survived by sister Ululani Shigematsu of Kaneohe, Hawai'i; three children: David M.K. Huihui, Elaine Nina K. Wachter, Lesley "Micky" L.K. Huihui; and five grandchildren: Cyrus M.K,, Daniel E.K., Julia L.K and Thomas E.K., and Savannah "Makana" L.K. Callaway (shown with him in photo). His loves were family, sports, and music. At Farrington, he played trombone in the band, and also earned a place on the 1953 high school All-Star Football Team as a tackle. Throughout his life he continued these loves as an active parent volunteer in sports and music activities. Memorial services over ashes in Hawai'i are pending and will be announced at a later date.
