EVELYN YUK HA CHOCK MUN
EVELYN YUK HA CHOCK MUN Evelyn Yuk Ha Chock Mun was born in Honolulu on March 19, 1929 to Wilfred and Violet Ching Chock. She was one of five children, who included Bertha, Wallace, James and Marjorie. Evie graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947. She attended Graceland College, in Lamoni, Iowa and continued with her studies at the "San" in Independence, Missouri, where she received her nursing degree. Later she earned her Public Health Nursing degree at the University of Hawaii and worked at Leahi Hospital for many years. In 1953, she married Orville "Kinny" Mun; they had four wonderful children: Natalie, Sheila, Tracy and Myles. Evie's hands were always busy with knitting, crocheting, flower arranging, cooking great Korean food, sewing and traveling. The original social butterfly, she made lifelong friends, and was an active member of the Community of Christ. In 2007, Evie suffered a stroke that affected her left side, but still accompanied her family on their vacation travels. Evie, went to be with God, her husband, Kinny and daughter Sheila on Labor Day 2011. She will forever be in our hearts and minds. Her Celebration of Life Everlasting service will be held on Dec. 24 at 10 a.m. at Makiki Community of Christ at 1666 Mott-Smith Drive. Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 10 am. Aloha attire. No flowers.
