Betty D. Ling, 87, of Kailua, a writer, composer and teacher and an Army veteran, died in Kailua. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She is survived by daughters Melissa Ling-Ing and Cindy, Melinda and Olivia Ling; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Private services. Donations suggested to St. Francis Hospice.
