A Service of the Celebration of Phyllis' Life will be held at St. James' Episcopal Church in Waimea on Saturday January 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the church. Flowers are welcome. Memorial donations may be sent to St. James' Church at P.O. Box 278, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743. Condolences may be sent to Wayne Gocke at P.O. Box 2281, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743.
Phyllis was born in Fond du Lac Wisconsin and graduated from Carroll University in Chicago Illinois, where she met and married her beloved husband, Wayne.
Phyllis retired from Honolulu Magazine as an Advertising Sales Manager and in the mid-eighties was awarded the prestigious Media Person of the Year Award by the Advertising Agency Association of Hawaii for her excellence in marketing, creativity, drive and public relations skills.
Phyllis and Wayne happily retired and became community advocates and active volunteers in their final island home in Waimea. Phyllis was devoted to St. James' Church and will be lovingly remembered for her smiles, laughter, kolohe ways and graceful loving manner of which she shared each and every day with everyone.
