81Karl Hees, 71, of Hilo, a retired teacher at Waiakea High School, alto saxophonist for Marius Stranger's Island Swing Orchestra and actor at Hilo Palace Theater, died at home. He was born in Yuma, Ariz. He is survived by wife Erlinda; daughters Judith L. and Kelly Hees, and Kimberlee LeBlanc; mother Fern Wasser; brothers John and Bill Hees, and James Mitchell; sister Judy Heywood; and three grandchildren. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. today at Hilo Palace Theater. Casual attire.
