FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

WILLIAM ARMAND AKANA
WILLIAM ARMAND AKANA 1922 - 2012 William Armand "AK" Akana, Kailua, Oahu, passed away peacefully at Hospice Hawaii, Kailua House, on January 25, 2012, surrounded by family and friends as he went to be with the Lord. Mr. Akana was born in Honolulu. He joined the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was retired from the Navy Exchange, spending time in Taiwan and Rota, Spain. AK's real passion, however, was music. For a number of years he belonged to the Gleeman Plus Choir. He also spent many evenings singing with the Tahitian Lanai group, led by pianist Ron Miyashiro, which most recently gathered at La Mariana. He is survived by sisters Leona Crabbe and Elizabeth Chong and daughter Sandra (Norman) Lau, all of Honolulu, and by four step-daughters, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. A graveside service honoring Mr. Akana's life will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery, Kaneohe, Hawaii. The Akana family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Akana's name be made to Hospice Hawaii.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
