Herbert Edgar Smith, Jr.HERBERT EDGAR SMITH, JR.
53, passed away suddenly on February 9. Born September 4, 1958, in Honolulu. After high school in California, Herb attended the University of Hawaii. After graduating, he met his future wife Naomi Koga-Smith, whom he married on Kauai in a ceremony fondly remembered by all in attendance. Back to California, the couple resided in San Jose where he worked as senior accountant for Ridge Winery. His hobbies included photography, bicycling, viticulture and opera, in which he became an accomplished tenor. He is remembered by friends and family for his gentle nature, big heart, warm humor and courage. As a parent, he cherished his daughter Emily Michiko Smith. Besides his wife and daughter, Herb is survived by his mother Mary Lou Arnold Beldner of Belmont and sister Lisa Keala Carter along with brother-in-law Ron Carter and nephews Cameron, Brett and Kyle Carter, all of Honolulu. A celebration of life will be held March 11, 2012 in Saratoga, California. Ashes will be scattered in Hawaii. Donations can be made to ALS Guardian Angels Foundation,
