NORMAN OKINAKA
On February 14, 2012, Our dad, Norman Okinaka left us to join God's "Coaching Staff". He was born and raised in Palolo Valley on March 10, 1950. He was a graduate of Kaimuki High School Class of 1968 and worked at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as a Tool Designer for 37 years.
His passion included Fishing, Bowling, Coaching, Cooking, and Watching his children and grandchildren grow.
He was a member of the Pacific Casting Club and in 1982 joined the "100 Plus Ulua "club with 129 lbs. Ulua. He also placed in various statewide fishing tournaments.
He bowled in the AJA and other various Open leagues.
He coached Bobby Sox Softball, ASA Softball, Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, Pearl City High School JV Football and Semi Pro Football.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Vanetta Cazimero. Sons Nathan Okinaka, Ryan Okinaka and Stephen Hanohano. Daughter Stacy Hanohano (Lester Kahalelehua) and grand children Jolene, Mikayla, Marcus, Malia and Andrew.
His mother Yukie "Doris" Okinaka, Sister Shirley Sakaguchi and Brother Warren (Lenora) Okinaka.
Services are being held at Nu'uanu Mortuary, Mar. 3rd with visitation at 430pm and service to start at 6pm.
The family would like to thank the many Doctors and Nurses of Castle Hospital, Ann Pearl Care Home and Island Hospice.
