James Akiona Sr., also known as "Jimmy" and "PiWai," 85, of Kailua-Kona, a retired lineman supervisor for Hilo Electric Light Co. and Hawaii Electric Light Co., died at home. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by sons James Jr. and Harold Akiona, and John B. III and Duane Medeiros; daughters Sheri Wahinekapu, Teddy Akau, Jaymie Akiona and Neddie de Jesus; sisters Lenora Kaaukai and Eunice Seward; 24 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. March 17 at Makole‘a, the former Kona Lagoon Hotel in Kahaluu, Kona. Services: 10 a.m. Luncheon to follow. Casual attire. Flowers, lei welcome.
