Betty Duarte Snowden, 81, of Honolulu, a Hawaiian history research specialist, died in Honolulu. She was born in Eleele, Kauai. She is survived by husband Thomas M.; son Eric; daughters Lavonne Cobb, Marisa Derby and Janesse Burley; brothers Damien and Terrence Duarte; sisters Beryl Souza, Mabel Kampstra and Rachelle Maikui; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation: 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Central Union Church, Atherton Chapel. Services: 5 p.m. Inurnment: 11:30 a.m. Monday at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Aloha attire.
