Leroy Mahina Matthews, 67, of Honolulu, a California Department of Education teacher and coach, died. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Gail N.; son Christopher K.; daughters Michelle P. Matthews, Danielle K. Naus and Summer Lam; sisters Blossom Nawili and Lanei Ryes; and seven grandchildren. Visitation: 5 p.m. Wednesday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Services: 6 p.m. Gathering: 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Duke Kahanamoku statue in Waikiki. Scattering of ashes to follow.
