Major Richard Tenkan Taba, born in Kaneohe on Jan. 14, 1927, passed on Feb. 17, 2012 in Honolulu. Minister for 65+yrs. in The Salvation Army (active- retired). He was active in Com-munity Service as President of ministerial group associations; Hawaii Civil Defense Liaison for The Salvation Army; Volunteer Chaplain C.A.P. 50+yrs retired at Lt. Colonel; Rotarian 30+yrs. Survived by beloved wife Elsie K. Taba. Sons-Richard Jr. (Ruth), James, & Myles (Diana). Grandchildren-Ruina (Richard) Opina, Jamie Theodore Taba, & Chester-Wayne Butay. Great-grandchild-Cadence Joy Opina. Also survived by sister Esther Y. McElderry. Memorial Service June 22, 2012, Friday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Viewing 6pm. Service 6:30pm, Casual Attire. Private Burial at Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe.
