FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

DIXON YOSHIHIKO MUGIISHI
DIXON YOSHIHIKO MUGIISHI Dixon Yoshihiko Mugiishi passed away on June 16, 2012 after a beautiful fulfilling lifetime of genuine caring and loving of others. Without fail, he inquired about others first. Born in Wailuku, Maui, he remained close to his childhood friends and fellow Baldwin graduates with annual reunions and gatherings. He was elected Student Body Vice-President at the University of Hawaii, and he and his UH buddies were inseparable for life. Colleagues and clients that benefited from his career as an award-winning insurance agent at Prudential and Atlas all became his friends, realizing that for Dixon, care always trumped personal gain. He was recognized with Prudential's McNaughton Award for service to community for volunteerism in such endeavors as the Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Governor's Developmental Disability Council. His influence at Iolani School was immense, where over time he chaired the Carnival, sat on the Board of Governors as Chair of the Education Committee, and ultimately became the Raider basketball team's number #1 fan and most personable and recognizable constant behind the bench. So many people called him "friend", and that included his loving family who found his optimistic, friendly, engaging, and caring demeanor ideal for calling him more than just husband or father, but also "true friend." We will all miss how much his vitality, kindness, and generosity of spirit enriched our lives. He is survived by his loving wife Doris Mugiishi, sons Kevin Mugiishi and Dr. Mark Mugiishi, and brother Masami Mugiishi. Services will be held at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary on Sunday, July 1 at 6 PM with visitation at 5 PM. Attire is casual and the family requests no flowers.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
