Peggy Fukiko NishimitsuPEGGY FUKIKO NISHIMITSU
Of Kapa'a, Kauai, passed away at home on June 22, 2012 at the age of 87. She was born in Waipahu on September 27, 1924. She retired from Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, having worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years. She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas K. Nishimitsu and son, Peter "Pohaku" Nishimitsu.
She is survived by daughters, Lorna Nishimitsu (Keith Aoki) of Kapa'a, and Holly Nishimitsu (Gerald Alfiler), also of Kapa'a, and grandsons Matthew K. K. Isoda, and Taylor N. Alfiler, sister Sally Yamanaka and brothers, Susumu "Jerry" Ishimoto and Nobuo "Terry" Ishimoto, all of 'Oahu, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
She was an avid gardener, baked the best lemon meringue pies, and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed reading mysteries, Hawaiian quilting, crocheting, and caring for her fish and beloved dog Niele, who met her at the Rainbow Bridge.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday July 28, 2012 at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Kapa'a. Visitation at 9:00 A.M. Service at 10:00 A.M. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Kaua'i Mortuary, Koloa.
