John P. Souza, 77, of Pepeekeo, Hawaii, a private cane grower for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and a Marine Corps veteran, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Pepeekeo. He is survived by hanai sons Robert "Bulla" Navor Jr. and Joelden Souza; hanai daughters Joanne J. Souza, Juslynn Madrid and Magdlena Madrid; brother Manuel De Souza Jr.; sisters Violet De Souza and Isabel Chandler; hanai brother Danny Ortega; hanai sister Kathleen "Bo" Pinc; and eight hanai grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
