FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

DELTA MAE HELBIG
DELTA MAE HELBIG Delta Mae Helbig passed away on November 12, 2012, in Honolulu. Delta was a longtime resident of Oahu, having moved to the Territory of Hawaii in 1954. Delta was born in Syracuse, Kansas, on May 16, 1922. She moved with her mother and sister to the Bay Area in California, prior to World War II, where she worked for the Standard Oil Company. During the war, Delta was employed at the Department of the Navy at Treasure Island, working, like so many Americans of her generation, in support of the country's war effort. She married Ray Helbig in 1945 and they, with their two children, Bill and Thea, moved to Honolulu, where they had acquired an interest in the Hawaiian Service Inc., a local publishing and wholesale company. Delta worked tirelessly with her husband, Ray, to raise their family, and to help make Hawaiian Service the success that it was. Her accounts included the Kahala Hilton and Sea Life Park, where she had many friends. She was also an avid golfer playing at Waialae and Hawaii Kai. She also volunteered for the Red Cross, Scouting and Maryknoll School. Delta had been a resident of Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for several years. She was cared for by the staff of this facility, as well as her devoted husband, Ray, until his death in 2010. The family wishes much aloha to all our friends at Maunalani as well as Kayoko Wong and the Meier family, who did so much over the years. Her son, Bill, also preceded her in death. Delta is survived by her daughter, Thea Coats, her son-in-law, Wilson, her two granddaughters, Mattie Mae and Virginia Ray, her grandson-in-law, George, as well as 6 nephews and their families, who live on the west coast. Memorial gifts may be made to Bill Helbig, Jr., Aloha Memorial Scholarship Fund at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
