WILFRED CLINTON “BUDDY” SOARES
WILFRED CLINTON BUDDY SOARES 83, of Honolulu, died November 25, 2012 in Hollister, California. Born on September 4, 1929. He attended Saint Louis High School and graduated in 1948. At Saint Louis, he was an outstanding football player and all-around athlete. He then attended the University of Hawaii and married Lorraine Perry who predeceased him in 2006. Buddy served in the business community, working with Pan American, Amfac, Hawaiian Electric, Aloha Airlines, and University of Hawaii at Hilo. In 1966, he was elected to the State House of Representatives and served a decade until 1976. For six of those years, he served as Republican Leader. In 1975, he was appointed to the State Senate of Hawaii by Governor George Ariyoshi and subsequently was elected and served from 1976 to 1986. For many years, Buddy was an assistant football coach at Punahou School. He is survived by sons Kevin, Kirk, Kyle (Noni) and daughter Kelly (Alfred) Valenzuela, twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation 9:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Holy Trinity Church, Honolulu. Mass 11 :00 a.m. Aloha Attire.
