MARIE B. FOSTER
MARIE B. FOSTER Marie Eleanor Brite Foster passed away at the age of 91 on February 6, 2013, in Mountain View, Hawaii. The daughter of Cecilia Anderson and George Thomas Brite, she was predeceased by brothers Harry, James, George and Vernon, her beloved husband of 57 years, John Lucas (Jack) Foster, and their daughter Mary Kathleen Foster. She is survived by her children, Colleen Foster, Sharon Testo (Russ), and Elizabeth Palmer (Hutch), her grandchildren, Vanessa Washington (Willie), Victoria Walker, John, Shannon, and Conor Palmer, and her great-grandchildren Zahra and Max Washington, and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Honolulu, Marie attended Aliiolani School and graduated from Roosevelt High School as a member of the National Honor Society. She began business life with Bishop National Bank (predecessor to First Hawaiian Bank). She spent most of her career with First Federal Savings and Loan where she started as a teller, rose to Branch Manager, opened both the Kaimuki and Makiki branches, began and lead their Personnel Department. She retired as an Assistant Vice President in 1984 to spend more time with her grand- children. She was president of the Honolulu Toastmistress Club and the Honolulu Zonta Club, an international organization working to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. Marie liked entertaining and artistic pastimes such as music, flowers and pottery. Her grandchildren were her joy. She appreciated her last few years at Kilohana Day Care and the supplemental care provided by Arcadia and El Sela Ranch. She will be missed by all her family. Interment will be private. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Diamond Head Memorial Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Hospice Hawaii or Hospice of Hilo.
