CW3 Burt Echols Allen
CW3 BURT ECHOLS ALLEN USA retired, died on Jan. 30, 2013 in Honolulu, HI, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 2, 1935, in Chandler, AZ to the late Maude and Andrew Allen. He graduated from high school in Anchorage, AK. He joined the Air Force where he served in a Military Police Unit in S. Korea during the Korean War. He graduated from the Univ. of AZ in Tucson with a degree in Public Admin. He resumed his military service to his country as an Army Officer serving at the 8th Army HQ in Seoul, S. Korea in the Criminal Investigation Command. He had various stateside tours of duty including: Reese AFB, TX, Alamogordo AFB, NM, Elmendorf AFB, AK, Moses Lake, WN, Fort Benning, GA, Fort Sheridan, IL, and Ft. Hood, TX. He was a decorated military officer who served his country honorably for 30 years. Mr. Allen was born and raised in the Mormon faith. He was youngest of 8 siblings including: Blair, Edna, Alex, Cleo, Phoebe, Andy, and Jane Allen. He has numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Allen leaves behind his family in Texas who served with him throughout his military career. Desiree, a psychiatric nurse in Corpus Christi. Her husband, Mitch Parmelee was his closest friend. Tamara, CEO of Casa Linda in Brownsville. Her husband, Rocky Bray, offered much support and friendship to Mr. Allen during his long battle. Morgan Pettit Anderson of San Angelo is the only grandchild of Mr. Allen. She is our historian and collector of family history. Desiree and Tamara were at their fathers' bedside during his last hours. He is remembered as a loving father and grandfather who will be forever missed. Funeral services will be held on February 21, 2013, at the National Memorial Cemetary of the Pacific (PunchBowl Cemetary) in Honolulu, HI, with full military honors.
